Choudrant will take on Monterey at 2 p.m. today at McMurray Park in Sulphur in Louisiana Class B baseball playoff action.

The winner will move on to the Class B state championship game set for 10 a.m. Saturday at McMurray Park.

Choudrant, 30-3, has won 28 in a row and are seeded No. 1 in Class B while Monterey is seeded 20th. Monterey upset No. 4 Zwolle on the road in the regional round 5-2 and beat No. 12 Pitkin 1-0 in the quarterfinals.

The Aggies are aiming for their fifth state title (1996, 2002, 2005, 2017) after claiming state titles in 1990, 2006, 2010, and 2011. The Aggies were semifinalists in 2018 and 2015.

This will make the fifth time in the last 10 postseasons (there wasn’t one in 2020), the Aggies have reached the semifinals. They got to the finals in 2010, 2011 and 2017 (taking state).

Choudrant Principal/Head Baseball Coach Tony Antley has been the beacon .. the baseball beacon who had guided his young charges to so much success over the years.

There’s a reason Choudrant High’s baseball field was named in his honor in 2018.

“They’re all the same but different,” Antley said about his teams over the years. “This team, they’re relentless. This whole team is relentless,” Antley said. “No matter what, they’ll give it everything they have.”

The Aggies are aiming for their fifth state title (1996, 2002, 2005, 2017) under Antley, who guided them to the state finals four more times (1990, 2006, 2010, 2011). The Aggies were semifinalists in 2018 and 2015.
