The Library Board of Control convened on Wednesday, July 21, with seven members attending. Board Chair Augusta Clark proposed that a Recognition Committee be formed to organize a celebration in recognition of prominent figures who were instrumental in the construction and maintenance of the library. The persons to be recognized include Jack Beard, Sam Williams, and George Byrnside. Board members Diana Humphries and Jan Canterbury, and library interim director, Marcie Nelson, volunteered to serve on the committee. The board is still looking for one more library staff member and two more citizens from the general public to serve on the committee, totaling six members. Once formed, the committee will meet in August, and the celebration will be held in September.
