False name leads to arrest

Ruston Police arrested a local man after a report he stole money from a donation box at the Spirit Mart on Farmerville Highway.

Officers responded and found the man still on the premises. He identified himself as Dameon Malone but gave conflicting birthdates when officers attempt to confirm his identity. He admitted taking money and surrendered it to the store which declined to press charges, but wanted Malone banned from returning to the store.

After the man was released, officers confirmed that Malone was a false name and the suspect’s true name was Jaron D. Redding of Ruston. Three arrest warrants for failure to appear in court for distribution of a legend drug, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, and no insurance were found at the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Redding was located in the Walmart parking lot and arrested. He was booked for theft and resisting an officer by false identification in addition to the three LPSO warrants.
