Ruston Police officers arrested a local man after a brief pursuit after responding to a call regarding damage to property.
At about 11 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a Martin Luther King Drive address about property damage. While interviewing the complainant, a white SUV passed the location with the suspect, Marco Jenkins, 42, behind the wheel. Officers attempted to stop the Chevrolet Tahoe, but Jenkins refused to stop. Though he stayed within the posted speed limit, Jenkins continued with officers following with lights and siren. He reportedly ran through the red light at Vaughn Avenue and S. Vienna Street and continued to an Arlington Street address where he stopped and exited the Tahoe. Jenkins fled on foot and after a warning to stop, an officer activated a Taser to stop him.
The Tahoe was determined to be stolen from Fort Worth, Texas.
Jenkins was booked for simple criminal damage to property, flight from an officer, resisting an officer, running a red light, and illegal possession of stolen things. Bail was set at $32,000.
