Business leader spotlight: Oliver Neal

The Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce announced its the Top Five Young Leaders to Watch, which included Candace Bowen, Bayou Title, Inc.; LaToya Houston, Quality Care at Home, LLC; Sarah McKinnie, Origin Bank; Oliver Neal, Meyer, Meyer, LaCroix & Hixson, Inc.; and Phillip Smart, City of Ruston.

Over the next few days, the Lincoln Parish Journal will feature these individuals and their contributions to our parish.

Oliver Neal has worked at Meyer, Meyer, LaCroix & Hixson, an engineers and land surveyors company, for nearly 10 years. His family moved to Ruston six months ago so he could manage the business’s Ruston office.

“Having just moved back to Ruston, receiving this award has shown me that efforts to be involved in the local community are noticed and appreciated and that is the type of community I want to be a part of,” said Neal, a Louisiana Tech graduate.

Neal said he was very surprised to be recognized for his work as a business leader in the community.

We have not been up here long enough to even be aware of these awards yet and to be recognized so soon after making the move caught me off guard in a good way,” he said.

Neal said the community at large shows how important it is to be involved in the parish activities and the progress the parish makes.

It is obvious that the people of Ruston and Lincoln Parish care about our home, so our home benefits,” he said. “I’ve seen Ruston grow and improve substantially over the years and I think it’s due to good leadership and strong community involvement.”

One way to do that, Neal said, is to be involved.

“Go to ribbon cuttings. Support other local businesses,” he said. “Check out Leadership Lincoln. I’ve made some good friends and learned quite a bit by joining that program.”

Oliver Neal and his wife, Laura, have two children: Amelia and Owen.

“I would just like to thank the community for such a warm welcome back,” he said. “My family and I are excited to be back in our favorite place again. And Go Dawgs!”
