Baseball

Louisiana Tech heads to McNeese State for a three-game series against the Cowboys with single games set for Friday (6 p.m.), Saturday (2 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.) at Joe Miller Ballpark in Lake Charles.

Tech (5-4) has dropped the first two games of the road trip at Nicholls and at Southeastern and has lost four straight since opening the season 5-0.

Bulldog ace Jonathan Fincher will get the start Friday and is 2-0 on the young season with two strong starts against Wichita State and Tulane.

LA Tech leads the all-time series over McNeese State 78-45. The Bulldogs have won eight of the last 10 meetings including a series sweep of the Cowboys last year in Ruston (11-0, 4-3, 14-4). This series dates all the way back to 1970.

Softball

Louisiana Tech will put its modest three-game winning streak on the line when the Lady Techsters head south this weekend for the LSU Crossover Invitational.

Tech (11-6) will play two games Friday at Lamson Park in Lafayette before heading to Baton Rouge to play four games Saturday and Sunday at Tiger Park.

Head coach Josh Taylor and Co. will play Central Connecticut State (12 p.m.) and UL-Lafayette (5 p.m.) in Lafayette on Friday. The contest against the Ragin Cajuns will be aired live on ESPN+.

Saturday’s schedule in Baton Rouge includes Central Connecticut State (10:30 a.m.) and Troy (3 p.m.) and Sunday’s games will be Troy (9 a.m.) and LSU (12 p.m.). The contest against LSU will air live on the SEC Network with Mark Neely and Michelle Smith calling the action.

Tech has won three straight games, including Wednesday night’s 2-1 victory over Southeastern Louisiana.

Men’s Basketball

In a rematch of one of the most competitive games of the year, the Bulldogs will stroll into Bartow Arena Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff against UAB in the regular season finale for both teams.

Tech (21-8, 12-5 C-USA) and UAB (23-7, 15-2) played a game in Ruston almost a month ago that came down to the wire. Jordan Walker’s nine three-pointers and 36 points were too much as UAB won 83-76.

Saturday’s contest will be televised on Stadium. It can be heard on the LA Tech Sports Network on 107.5 FM with the pregame show starting at 1:30 p.m.

Tennis

After enjoying a stretch of nine straight home matches, Louisiana Tech heads to San Antonio for a pair of weekend matches against UTSA (Friday, 1 p.m.) and Incarnate Word (Saturday, 10 a.m.).

LA Tech (11-2) takes its nine-match winning streak on the road, a streak that was extended this past weekend with three victories in four days over Middle Tennessee, Arkansas State and Tarleton State.

Golf

Fresh off a second-place finish at the Border Olympics two weeks ago, the Louisiana Tech Bulldog golf team will head to Alabama to compete in the Tiger Invitational at Grand National Golf Club in Opelika.

The Bulldogs will be joined at the 14-team event by the host Auburn Tigers along with Vanderbilt, Southern Miss, Missouri, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida Atlantic, Lamar, UNC Wilmington, Wichita State, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Western Kentucky, North Alabama and South Alabama.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament starts Sunday with an 8 a.m. tee time followed by Monday’s second round (8 a.m.) and Tuesday’s final round (8 a.m.)

Tech’s team will consist of Sam Murphy, Mac Murphy, Hunter Battles, James Swash and Grant Smith while Lake Juban will compete as an individual.
