Creek lands seven on all-district team

Following a season that saw Cedar Creek capture the District 2-1A title and advance to the second round of the Louisiana Class A State Tournament, the Lady Cougars landed eight players on the all-district team.

Head coach Julie Riser’s squad boasted six on the first team and one on the second team as Creek had the most representatives on the team.

Cedar Creek’s first team honorees included Sarah Adams (infielder), Chloe Brashear (pitcher), Lillian Soto (infielder), Allie Furr (outfielder), Olivia Underwood (outfielder), Anna Grace Lee (outfielder) and Lizzie McAdams (utility). The lone second team honoree for Creek was Eli Dickerson (catcher).

Senior Sarah Adams was named the District 2-A MVP after hitting .490 (50 of 102) with 16 doubles and 14 home runs with 53 RBI and 47 runs scored.

Furr batted .615 (59 of 96) with 13 doubles, 6 triples and 3 home runs with 52 runs scored and 29 RBI. She also stole 23 bases.

Soto batted .385 (30 of 78) with 10 doubles and 6 home runs along with 32 runs and 32 RBI. Underwood batted .325 (27 of 83) with 27 runs scored and 20 RBI. Lee batted .358 (29 of 81) with 26 runs scored and 20 RBI.

McAdams batted .416 (42 of 101) with 9 doubles and 8 home runs along with 26 runs scored and 39 RBI. In the circle, McAdams was 5-3 with a 4.52 earned run average. She worked 85.0 innings allowing 117 hits while striking out 70.

Brashear was 10-4 in the circle with a 4.13 earned run average. She worked 89.1 innings allowing 108 hits while striking out 52 batters.

Dickerson batted .250 (20 of 80) with 22 RBI and four runs scored.
