Wanted fugitive found on traffic stop

An Arkansas man was arrested on felony warrants early Sunday morning after his vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation. 

At about 2 a.m. Sunday morning Sergeant T. Edmiston of the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Department saw a pickup truck at U.S. 80 and La. Highway 145. The window tint was so dark Edmiston could not see inside the vehicle. 

The truck was stopped and initially gave the name The driver and passenger gave conflicting information about each other’s names. The passenger originally gave his name as Justin Ward. A search of the vehicle located a wallet next to the passenger seat containing the passenger’s Arkansas driver’s license with the name John A. Rodrigues.

A record check showed Rodrigues was wanted in Lafayette County and Lewisville County, Arkansas on warrants. He was arrested and additionally charged with resisting an officer by false information. The nature of the felony warrants was not immediately available.

Rodrigues was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. Bail on the resisting charge was set at $2500. He will be held without bail on the fugitive warrants from Arkansas.
