Tech grad prepares for upcoming album release

Musician Victoria Wells may have graduated from Louisiana Tech this past May, but she’s not ready to give Ruston up just yet.

The Shreveport native has been playing several area shows, and her upcoming album is getting ready for release.

“My album is currently in post-production, and it’s looking like it’s going to wrap up soon, which is exciting,” Wells said. “Over the past year I’ve built a really awesome creative partnership with a Ruston local, country artist Micah Kennedy. We’ve written a number of songs together, played some shows in Houston, Ruston, and Shreveport, and been featured at the Shreveport Opry twice together.”

Wells started playing acoustic guitar at the age of 7 after being inspired by Taylor Swift.

Wells said she’s working in a law firm in Shreveport as she prepares for law school next year, but she has music plans in motion, too.

“My main focus right now for the short-term is just getting the album out and promoting it, hopefully doing a radio tour with local stations across north Louisiana,” she said. “Long-term goals include a sophomore album – hopefully — and getting up to Nashville for a writer’s round.”

For now though, Wells will be playing regularly at Superior Steakhouse in Shreveport starting Oct. 21.

“Honestly, I just love it. It’s something that it’s been like a lifelong love of mine, and it just brings me a lot of joy to make music and to play music for people and to be an entertainer,” Wells said in a previous LPJ interview.
