Two individuals were arrested by Louisiana State Police Thursday morning in Ruston in separate incidents.
Larry T. Lucas 59, of Ruston was stopped on La. Highway 33 near U.S. 80 for failure to wear a seat belt.
During a license check, it was discovered Lucas was wanted in Mississippi on felony burglary charges.
Lucas was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center where he is being held awaiting extradition by Mississippi authorities.
A few minutes later, a second arrest occurred at the same location after a driver was seen without a seat belt. As a trooper was stopping the vehicle, a records check showed the license plate had been reported stolen to Ruston Police.
Angelique J. Newton, 36, of Ruston could not produce a driver’s license or proof of liability insurance.
Newton was booked at the detention center for illegal possession of stolen things, no driver’s license, no seat belt, switched license plate, and expired inspection sticker.
