Dan Lord announces run for District 3 of Lincoln Parish Police Jury

SIMSBORO – Jan. 31, 2023 – Longtime Simsboro resident and local business owner Dan Lord today announced his candidacy for the Lincoln Parish Police Jury District 3 seat.

Citing his desire to see a Police Jury that is focused on meeting the critical needs of Lincoln Parish, Lord said he is committed to bringing transparency and accountability to Police Jury decision-making and actions.

I look at how the Police Jury is operating now, and what appear to be the priorities, and I don’t think things are going in the right direction,” he said. “I think about my grandchildren, and I don’t want them to have to deal with issues down the road that the Police Jury ought to be taking care of now.”

Lord, owner of Dan Lord Plumbing for the past 25 years, is a Choudrant High School graduate, Army National Guard veteran, former Ruston Fire Department firefighter, and a licensed EMT. He also serves as President of the Northeast Louisiana Archery Association, helps support the North Louisiana Archery Shooters Association, cofounded the Louisiana Tech Archery program, and helped establish the archery program at Lincoln Parish Park.

“If I am elected to the Police Jury, I will listen to my constituents and act in their best interests at all times. I’ll have a reason for my actions, and I’ll tell you the reason,” Lord said. “I will operate under a very simple principle: Do the right thing for the people I represent directly, and for Lincoln Parish.”

Lord said his key concerns at this time are Parish trash pickup and management outside city limits, ensuring that roads and ditches are properly maintained, including clearing and cutting, the condition of buildings and facilities the Police Jury oversees, and animal control.

“I have a lot more to learn about these issues, but I am a quick learner, and I am a solutions-oriented person who can bring people together, iron out problems, and serve the Parish interests,” Lord said. “I’m not afraid to make hard decisions based on facts and common sense.”

District 3’s seat is currently occupied by Police Jury President Richard Durrett.
