Mike Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilpatrick Memorial Garden Cemetery in Ruston.

Herman was born June 12, 1929 at his home in the farming community of Duralde, LA to Bathile and Willie Manuel, and he entered the gates of Heaven February 5, 2023 in Ruston. He was the youngest of 10 children and was the only one to graduate high school. Herman graduated from Basile High School in 1947 and went on to attend McNeese State University before graduating from Louisiana State University with both a BS and a MS in agriculture. He then went to work in Lake Charles, LA and met Mary Ann Porter. The two married July 4, 1953 and were blessed with three children. Herman and his family moved to Ruston, and he started his job managing the grounds at Louisiana Tech University. Upon retirement in 1986, he started his own landscaping business and raised cattle. Herman dearly loved and was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He shared with them and others a gentle spirit and wisdom from years well lived. Herman saw the good in everything and in everyone. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary and son-in-law John Adams.

Herman is survived by his children: Sandi Manuel Adams; David Manuel and Ginger; and Colleen Manuel Cox and Carey; grandchildren: Joshua Adams and Heidi; Mallary Adams; Melissa Manuel Rawl and Jordy; Matt Manuel and Courtney; Christine Cox Ourso and Cliff; and Carey Michael Cox; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
