Man arrested with fake check

A Monroe man was arrested Wednesday when he attempted to cash an alleged fraudulent check at a Ruston bank.

Ruston Police responded to the Chase Bank on the North Service Road Wednesday afternoon regarding a call about a suspicious man attempting to cash a check. Officers found Tobias D. Fields, 43, had attempted to cash a check in the amount of $2,211.

Chase Bank reported encountering multiple attempts to cash checks similar to the one possessed by Fields. He was questioned at the Ruston Police Department and then booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for monetary instrument abuse. 

Fields’s bail amount was not immediately available.
