Funeral services for Dr. Patsy Lou Arnold Boudreaux, age 85 of Ruston, LA will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, March 3, 2023 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston with Rev. Gil Arthur officiating. Burial will follow in the Smyrna Cemetery in Smyrna, TX under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Patsy was born August 17, 1937 in Texarkana, AR to Louise Bowen and Andrew Jack Arnold, Jr., and she passed away February 28, 2023 in Ruston. She attended Delhi High School and immediately went to Louisiana Tech University in Ruston to advance her education. Patsy obtained her Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and physics education. She later earned her Master’s degree from Northwestern State University and then furthered her education by obtaining her PhD from Northeast Louisiana University. Patsy spent the majority of her teaching career at Ruston High School where she taught from 1965 to 1988. She taught chemistry, physics, statistics, earth science and research. During this time, Patsy was a member of the LA Academy of Science and earned several awards during her membership. She also served as Director of the Junior LA Academy of Science. Patsy received the Outstanding Ruston High School Retired Teacher award in 2012. She was a dedicated teacher and loved her students as if they were her own family. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents Louise B and AJ Arnold; brother Arthur A. Arnold; and granddaughter Amy Nicole Smith.
Patsy is survived by her daughter Precia and husband Rodney Smith; granddaughter Sarah Louise Smith; grandson Bradley Smith and wife Courtney; great-grandchildren: Cullen Smith, Annalee Smith and Walker Smith; and a host of family and friends.
The family would like to express their thanks to the Northwood Medical Center, Alpine Skilled Nursing and Rehab and Premiere Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, to Masonic Children’s Home or to the American Heart Association.
