Woman booked for property damage

A Choudrant woman was arrested Monday after she allegedly damaged items belonging to a boyfriend.

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a Peavey Road residence where a man reported his girlfriend was destroying his property and throwing it outside. Deputies saw clothing and other items strewn outside the front door.

The man said Laverne Benton, 51, was drunk and after an argument began throwing his clothes outside and destroying items inside.

Benton, who appeared intoxicated to the deputies, said she was throwing the items out because she was angry. The house was found in disarray, including a broken TV on the floor.

Benton was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for simple criminal damage to property valued under $1,000.
