Sheriff’s office to host hunter education courses

The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office will host three courses this fall for hunter education. All students must be 10 years of age by the last day of training.

The three courses are scheduled to begin Sept. 25, Oct. 9, and Oct. 16, with each course to last four evenings, Monday through Thursday from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

The training will occur at the Sheriff’s Office Gun Range, located at 106 Old KOA Road just off the I-20 Simsboro exit.

The 10-hour classroom course covers firearm and hunting safety, wildlife management principles, ethics, game identification and outdoor survival. Students must successfully complete a live-fire exercise. Firearms and ammunition are provided for the live-fire exercise so students should not bring their own.

Each course is limited to 25 students so early registration is encouraged. Registration will be online at https://louisianaoutdoors.com/events. Make sure to select the Lincoln Parish events. For questions, contact Lt. Kyle Luker at 318-251-5111.
