Manhunt follows Grambling theft, vehicle pursuit

Authorities were searching for a man in a wooded area southwest of Ruston Tuesday after an incident in Grambling.

While few details were available at press time, a Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman said the incident involved a theft in Grambling Tuesday afternoon. The suspect reportedly fled Grambling officers before abandoning the vehicle on Heard Road.

An unconfirmed report that a Grambling officer was struck by the suspect’s vehicle could not be verified as GPD supervisors were at the scene searching for the man. The officer was slightly injured, according to radio communications between authorities.

Residents in the area were told the suspect was a black male wearing red shorts and a red shirt.

Police and sheriff’s deputies were still in the Wesley Chapel area several hours after the incident. At last report, the suspect had not been apprehended.

An update will be provided when additional information becomes available.
