Douglas Bruce, 56, of 7858 Hico Street in Dubach remained in the Lincoln Parish Detention Center Tuesday night on $2,000 bond and facing four charges after Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call in reference to a domestic battery case.

The LPSO reported receiving a 911 call Monday night about a domestic dispute at 7858 Hico St. in Dubach.

Upon arrival at the scene the complainant advised LPSO deputies that she was at the residence of Bruce Douglas, who she said was her boyfriend, and they had gotten to an argument after Douglas accused her of “cheating on him with his cousin.”

Douglas’ arrest affidavit said the complainant said a physical fight broke out between the two with Douglas striking her in the head with a closed fist and pulling her hair, some of which she said came out as she was calling 911.

She said that during that call attempt to 911 Douglas grabbed her by her right arm, took her phone away and began striking her in the forehead with the phone.

The arrest affidavit says that deputies reported seeing visible marks on the complainant’s forehead and a large welt on her right arm that was already beginning to bruise. Photographs of the victim’s injuries were reportedly taken at the scene. The victim told deputies she wanted him to leave her alone so she could return to El Dorado, Arkansas, to work.

Deputies located Douglas at the Hico street residence, and reported he was handcuffed and read his Miranda rights. Deputies reported that Douglas said he “did get into a physical altercation” with the victim but didn’t remember hitting her. The deputies also reported that Douglas had a “strong odor of what is commonly associated with alcohol coming from his person.”

At the scene the deputies were advised that Douglas had a warrant for failure to appear in Ruston as well as an active warrant from Webster Parish.

After Douglas was transported to the LPDC, deputies reported that a secondary search of Douglas revealed a cigarette with suspected marijuana in his left front pocket.

The arrest affidavit says that Douglas was then notified of his charges of Domestic Abuse Battery; FTA; Fugitive from Another Jurisdiction and Possession of a Schedule I Narcotic and booked into the LPDC.
