No more BYOB Clubs for Lincoln Parish

The Lincoln Parish Police Jury joined the cities of Ruston and Grambling on Tuesday night by voting to ban “Bring Your Own Bottle” gatherings within the parish.

Landon Hunt, a major with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office, explained the issue to jurors during the LPPJ’s monthly meeting.

“These are supposed to be gatherings that end up becoming businesses,” he said. “People get charged to get in, and we’ve had to deal with calls about as many as 800 or more people involved in such in recent weeks.

“People have been walking while intoxicated across four-lane highways and leaving trash all over the parking lots of business establishments. It’s probably something that’s happened because of COVID and the fact bars weren’t open for so long, but it’s become a serious problem.”

Jurors unanimously voted to change a city hours to zero hours being allowed for “Bring Your Own Bottle” clubs to operate within city limits.

Weddings and other gatherings not charging paid attendance are not included in the new regulation.
