Temple Baptist Church’s 4th annual WEEkday St. Jude Trike-a-Thon raised $4,575 this spring, $2,175 above the event goal and double the amount brought in last year.

In this year’s event, coordinated by WEEkday director Gina Holstead, 76 preschool students participated. Two groups were involved at separate times – PreK 3 and also PreK 4 and K Connect classes.

Holstead said this was the program’s first event of the year to be able to include parents and grandparents due to COVID.

“St Jude sends us educational materials which we use in our curriculum to teach about bike safety,” Holstead said. “This event has become a favorite with our children and their parents. Little people can make a big difference.”

WEEkday ministry is a part of the preschool ministry of Temple Baptist Church. A St. Jude trike-a-thon is a fun, service learning program for young children that teaches trike and riding toy safety while helping the hospital’s children.

Local St. Jude fundraisers thank Holstead, community supporters, and Nancy Darland, philanthropic chair of the Zeta Rho chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, which assisted with the event.
