In a year that has seen the Ruston High School Class of 2021 face unprecedented changes like never seen before, it probably shouldn’t be surprising the graduating seniors will face one more before picking up their diplomas.

Due to the threat of rain today and for much of this week, the RHS 2021 graduation ceremony, originally planned to be held outside on James Field at L.J. “Hoss” Garrett Stadium, has been moved to the Thomas Assembly Center at Louisiana Tech University.

RHS commencement exercises will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the TAC.

Mandatory graduation rehearsal is slated for 11 this morning in the TAC.

Masks will be required at both the rehearsal and the graduation ceremony itself. RHS will provide protective masks for the graduation ceremony but students must provide their own for rehearsal.

Ticket limitations will not be enforced by capacity but guidelines will still be followed, meaning graduates are being asked to limit the number of their guests to 10 or less. Parents will not be allowed on the floor, so pictures should be taken at home. Tim Garlington of Portraits Plus will be on hand to take a picture of students as they receive their diplomas.

Students are also asked to not bring purses, cell phones, cameras, etc. as there will be no storage area for such during the ceremony.
