Chance perfect timing of a project conducted by the Ruston Junior High School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society ended up being a true treat for Ruston Fire Department personnel on Tuesday afternoon.
The RJHS National Junior Honor Society put together snack packages some chapter members brought to donate to the RFD’s Main Station on East Georgia Avenue Tuesday as a show of appreciation.
That project idea was thought of and voted on by NJHS members, but they had no idea of how timely it would end up being.
“I found out talking last week to (RFD) Chief Public Education Officer Eric Brazzel that this week (May 16-22) is National Emergency Services Week,” said RJHS National Junior Honor Society adviser Sarah Waits. I called to tell him we were planning to drop off the packages and he said the timing was great because this would be the national week for Emergency Medical Services. The kids thought of, and had no idea of the national week. Ideas were submitted more than a month ago.”
The RJHS National Junior Honor Society members dropping off the snack packages were themselves treated to a tour of the RFD ambulances by RFD Emergency Medical Director David Wells as well as learning more about the station fire trucks.
