A call in reference to a fight at Super 8 Motel Wednesday night resulted in a Ruston man facing multiple charges.

After responding as a back-up to the call a Ruston Police Department officer reported seeing two black males being questioned by another officer.

The backup officer reported he then conducted a pat down of one of the men, identified as A’Nijeal Grant, 19, of Burgessville Road, and felt a large, bag-like object in Grant’s front pocket.

After Grant reportedly gave the officer consent to remove the bag from the pocket, it was allegedly observed to be a clear cellophane wrapper containing suspected synthetic marijuana individually packaged for sale.

Grant was then reported to be handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol unit and read his Miranda rights, which he said he understood.

When asked about the substance recovered from his pocket Grant reportedly told an officer it was “mojo” he had found near his house.

The arresting officer’s background check of Grant revealed an active warrant through the RPD and two warrants through the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Grant remained in the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on Thursday facing charges of possession of synthetic marijuana, illegal possession of a firearm and two counts of being a fugitive from another jurisdiction.

His bond was set at $38,500.
