Baseball awards continue coming in for Ruston High School’s JR Tollett faster than the number of strikeouts he racked up as the Bearcats’ pitching ace during the 2021 season.
Tollett’s latest honor is being named as a Utility Player of the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Assocation Class 5A All-State Baseball Team.
One of only three sophomores named to the LBCA Class 5A All-State Team, Tollett went 9-2 on the season with a 1.05 ERA and 83 strikeouts.
West Monroe pitcher Lane Little joined Tollett as an LBCA All-State selection.
The LBCA Class 5A Hitter of the Year was Haughton senior Peyton Stovall while the Pitcher of the Year was Barbe senior Jack Walker.
LBCA Class 5A Co-Coach of the Year accolades went to Barbe’s Glenn Cecchini and Jesuit’s Kenny Goodlett.
