Bulldog second baseman Taylor Young was named a Collegiate Baseball Third Team All-American on Thursday morning, becoming Louisiana Tech’s seventh All-American in program history.

The West Monroe native joins Charlie Montoyo, Brian Rike, Devon Dageford, Brent Diaz, Nate Harris and Parker Bates as the Bulldogs to earn national honors.

Young, a First Team All-Conference USA honoree and the league’s Defensive Player of the Year, is tied for first nationally with 75 runs scored. LA Tech’s second baseman has batted .332 with 18 doubles, seven home runs and a triple out of the leadoff spot this season. The West Monroe native also leads the Bulldogs with 44 walks and eight stolen bases.

Defensively, Young has committed just one error despite facing 252 chances at second base. Young’s 141 assists and 31 turned double plays pace the Bulldogs’ defense. He has a .996 fielding percentage in 2021.
