An altercation at the North Trenton Street Circle K resulted in the arrest of Malik Hicks, 24, on a charge of domestic abuse battery.

The Ruston Police Department responded to a call at the convenience store late Thursday night and made contact with Hicks’ girlfriend, who alleged that Hicks, her boyfriend of five years, had grabbed her by her hair and used it to drag her into his vehicle.

Officer then talked to Hicks, first reading him his Miranda rights, to which he responded that he understood. Hicks reportedly said that he and his girlfriend had been dating for five years and have a child together.

He then allegedly admitted to grabbing his girlfriend by her hair but denied dragging her by it. He also told officers that his girlfriend had not given him permission to touch her.

Hicks was then reportedly handcuffed and transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. No bond was reported for Hicks as of Sunday night.
