The Ruston Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on Wyoming Avenue on June 29. Officers discovered a gunshot victim lying in the roadway when they arrived on the scene and began to render aid. The victim was quickly transported by ambulance to the Northern Louisiana Medical Center ER where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim was identified as DeAnthony Davis, a 22-year-old black male. An arrest warrant was issued on July 1 for Jayson France, 20. The arrest was made possible due to the efforts of initial responding officers, the RPD Criminal Investigation Division, and specifically, cooperation from citizens.
France is charged with second degree murder and was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
