Ruston Police Department seeks information regarding hit and run involving young child

The Ruston Police Department responded to reports of a young child that had been struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Thornton Street and West California Avenue on July 15 at 10:11 pm. Upon arrival, officers discovered the young child (2-years-old) lying near the roadway. The child was unconscious, but breathing when officers arrived. Medics arrived on scene and quickly began providing aid. The child was flown to LSU Shreveport where he is listed in critical condition at this time. The investigation into this incident is very active at this time and information is still being gathered.

At this time there is no reason/evidence to believe this incident is connected to the hit and run accident involving Jeremiah Cox in the 4200 block of Hwy. 80 East on July 15 at 11:10 pm.

Ruston Police investigators are asking anyone with information on this case to call 318-255-4141 or Crime Stoppers at 318-255-1111. A tip may also be text.  Just text “TIP515 “ to Crimes (274637) to send a text message. Tipsters remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward.
