ZWOLLE — Zwolle took control early to end Simsboro’s Cinderella dreams of a Division V Nonselect School softball playoffs upset Monday evening.

The second-seeded Lady Hawks scored one run in the bottom of the first inning before adding nine runs in the second to establish that early control.

After adding another run in the bottom of the fourth stanza, Zwolle held the 15th-seeded Lady Aggies scoreless in the ensuing at bat to earn the 11-0 win in five innings.

But the Lady Tigers didn’t go down without a fight.

Despite entering the fifth inning with only two hits (singles by Kayla Elton and Carlei Wheeler), Simsboro kept things a little interesting after Kennedy King led off with a single to right field.

After the next batter struck out, Elton then hit her second single of the contest on a grounder between third and shortstop.

But Zwolle followed by recording a strikeout and a fly out to end Simsboro’s season at 19-11.

Wheeler went the distance on the mound for Simsboro, giving up six hits and four walks while notching six strikeouts.
