Theft suspect with pistol caught on campus

A Texas man was arrested on the Louisiana Tech campus last week after he was found with stolen property and a firearm.

Roderick Boyd Norman II, 18, of Kileen, Texas, was arrested September 26 after Tech Police officers responded to a call from students about a man harassing them.


Norman was found near the Sutton Hall residential complex about 11:00 p.m. Under questioning, he admitted taking an electric scooter from a bike rack near Tolliver Hall. He was found in possession of a Smith & Wesson .40 pistol with a 30-round magazine and a vape pen Norman said contained THC.

Norman was arrested for theft, illegal carrying of a weapon, and possession of marijuana.

Norman’s was set at $10,000.
