
William Christopher “Chris” Picou, aged 56, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024, in Camden, Mississippi. Born on November 24, 1967, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Chris lived a life marked by service, courage, and unwavering love for his family and community.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Louisiana Army National Guard, Chris dedicated his life to protecting and serving others. He had a long and dedicated career in law enforcement with agencies throughout Mississippi and Louisiana, too many to name, but primarily in Hinds, Rankin, and Madison Counties, his most recent with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office and Madison Police Department.
He was a highly-respected member of the Ruston Police Department from February of 1990 through November of 1994 and a resident of Ruston and Simsboro during that time.
Chris was a decorated K9 trainer and officer working in interdiction. One of his greatest pleasures in life was working with dogs and their handlers. He was respected and admired by his colleagues around the country and the local communities he served.
Chris is survived by his loving wife, Ashleigh Picou; his cherished children, Hanna Picou Smith (Connor), T.J. Picou (Shelley), Matthew Picou (Carson), Christopher Picou, Zachary Curtis, and Brockston Picou; his grandchildren, Maggie Ryan Smith, William Miller Smith, Elaina Picou, Caroline Picou, Rowyn Picou, and Reeves Picou; his parents, Conrad and Cindy Picou; his sister, Candace Picou Craft; his brother, Chad Picou; as well as numerous other beloved family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, November 14, at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison, Mississippi, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM. The graveside service will be held in Monterey, Louisiana.
Chris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
