Sterling Forbes Dresner, 38, of League City, Texas passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025. God allowed him to come home and he is with Jesus.
Born in Houston, Texas to Patricia Parnell Dresner and Bruce Edwin Dresner, Sterling graduated from Clear Lake High School in Houston, Texas and attended San Jacinto College before embarking on a career in the energy industry working in refineries, and Chisholm Oil with his dad. Sterling had a heart of gold and was kind to everyone. He had an infectious smile and the ability to strike up a friendly conversation – he was that guy who met no strangers.
Sterling might have been a “fish whisperer”. If there was a fish in the water, Sterling could surely catch it. He also loved anything that involved water, swimming, hunting, music, movies, cooking and grilling, and biking. He adored the family pets, Tony and Max. Sterling enjoyed traveling. He sailed the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean, and went up the East Coast of the United States several times, stopping at each town along the way fishing and launching a boat he built with his dad in Maine. Next on Sterling’s bucket list was a trip to India with his mother.
Sterling was preceded in death by his grandfather Jack Layne Parnell and grandparents Frank Otto Dresner and Gertrude James Dresner. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Layne Parnell Dresner and father, Bruce Edwin Dresner, his brother Austin Stuart Dresner, his grandmother Barbara Jean Parnell Aswell, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved dearly.
A service for Sterling’s family and friends will be held at the home of Cathy and Wayne Aswell in Ruston, Louisiana on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 1 PM. Reverend Werner Aswell will officiate. Interment will follow at Choudrant Memorial Cemetery in Choudrant, Louisiana. Visitation at Wayne and Cathy’s following interment.
