A Ruston man was arrested last week after a patrol officer found him standing in the roadway screaming profanities at a nearby home.
Rick Edward Bennett, 61, was arrested for disturbing the peace on December 28 when an officer encountered him on West Kentucky Avenue near Cooktown Road.
The officer found a bare-chested Bennett with a bleeding laceration on his head, screaming profanities toward a nearby residence. When the officer stopped, Bennett began walking away toward the front of the residence, which was later determined to be his relative’s.

Bennett refused to stop for the officer until he got to the front porch. After the officer looked closer at Bennett’s wound, Ruston Fire Department was called to the scene. Bennett said he had been arguing with the neighbors across the street.
An officer’s report indicated Bennett was unsteady on his feet with slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.
The neighbors said Bennett came to the front door, and when it was opened, he attempted to push his way inside. The neighbor then went to get Bennett’s relative, and during that time Bennett fell into the bushes, which caused his injuries. After Bennett was cleared medically by the fire department, he was arrested and taken to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
