A Ruston man was arrested early Sunday morning after he allegedly committed several traffic violations and then fled into the woods after a state trooper stopped him.
Brian O’Keith Brantley, 39, was seen operating a GMC Sierra traveling west on Alabama Avenue at about 1:55 a.m. A state trooper paced Brantley speeding at about 48 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. Brantley failed to maintain his vehicle within a single travel lane and failed to signal a turn, according to the trooper’s report.

When the vehicle reached the dead end of Penny Lane, Brantley stopped and fled on foot into the woods with the trooper in pursuit. After running about 100 yards, Brantley fell down and attempted to hide and was taken into custody.
According to the report, Brantley said he fled because he knew he had active warrants for his arrest.
Brantley was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for driving under suspension, resisting an officer, no turn signal, improper lane usage, a failure to appear warrant from Ruston City Court on a driving under suspension charge, and Third District Court warrant for failure to pay child support.
