Cold front, possible winter weather predicted for our way

Numerous forecasting models are showing a high probability of winter weather in our area this coming weekend.

Ice. Ice. Baby.

That’s what our area may be in store for next weekend as forecast models are showing the potential for some significant winter weather this coming weekend.

Both the Global Forecast System (GFS) and the EURO model are predicting that the north Louisiana area will be in the geographical footprint of winter precipitation, with both models calling for ice storms in are area.

But both the Euro and GFS are showing an icy scenario (primarily freezing rain, maybe some sleet, but not snow) for portions of the state from perhaps as far south as Northern Acadiana and more pointedly in the central and northern part of the state.

Forecasters, however, are reminding us that these models could drastically change in the coming days and to stay up to date on the latest forecasts as we progress into the week.
