Mayor Ronny Walker alerted the Lincoln Parish Journal that two of the three outages in Ruston have been caused by accidents involving motorists running into utility poles.

“We have had only three outages to this point today,” Walker said. “And two of those outages were caused by drivers on the road wrecking into utility poles. We will now have to send crews to replace a broken pole, which will put more residents without power for the time being. Please stay off the roads to prevent further accidents that involve needed utility poles for power.”

Another wave of precipitation and cold air is expected tonight.
