For the second straight season, Cedar Creek and Arcadia will face off with the District 1-1A title on the line.
Head coach Katie Hall’s Lady Cougars will travel 15 miles west to face head coach Cheryl Ford’s Lady Hornets tonight. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at Arcadia High School.
Arcadia (19-6, 4-0) is currently No. 3 in the NonSelect School Division IV power ratings, while Cedar Creek (19-7, 5-0) is currently No. 4 in the Select School Division IV power ratings. Both teams advanced to their respective state title games last year.
“We love this kind of game,” said Hall. “It’s why we play the game. It’s why we practice and grind in the offseason. It’s for these moments. I think our girls will be ready for the challenge of playing a very talented Arcadia team.”
Cedar Creek has won eight straight and 16 of its last 17 games with the lone loss coming to No. 1 ranked Oak Grove. Arcadia has won five in a row and 11 of its last 12 with its lone loss coming to Class 5A Natchitoches Central.
In addition to a district title, the Lady Cougars are chasing the No. 3 seed in the division, currently trailing OCS by .09 points in the power ratings. Wins over Arcadia and Jonesboro Hodge (Friday) could move them past the Eagles.
The Lady Cougars won last year’s meeting in a close game at The Brickhouse.
