Suspicious activity leads to drug arrest

A Choudrant man was arrested on drug charges in Ruston Sunday after he was observed acting suspiciously around a parked vehicle.

Benton Bernard Bullard, 52, was arrested on March 22 on several drug charges after Ruston Police investigated the situation.

An officer initially saw Bullard approach a Honda Civic parked on the sidewalk on South Farmerville Street. According to the officer’s report, Bullard walked to the rear of the vehicle and opened the trunk and removed several bags and walked away.

Another officer approached Bullard, who said the vehicle did not belong to him. During the course of the conversation, Bullard admitted having a crack pipe in his pocket.

During a search, a suspected crack cocaine rock was found in one of the bags Bullard had. A smoking pipe containing suspected narcotic residue was found on the ground where Bullard was standing. A pill was also located on Bullard believed to be methocarbamol.

Bullard was arrested and booked for possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a legend drug.
