
Ruston Police arrested a woman last weekend in connection with a February 5 incident in which she allegedly confronted the victim over a personal dispute and attempted to strangle her and then threatened her with a knife.
Shamyra Jackson, 18, of Ruston, was arrested on several charges, including a warrant held by the police department from the February incident.
According to an officer’s report, police responded to an Eastland Avenue residence on February 5 where the victim said Jackson had taken her to an area park under the pretense of a social outing. There Jackson confronted the victim and became physically aggressive.

The victim told police Jackson grabbed her by the neck with both hands with intent to cause her harm.
Officers saw the victim had two red swollen marks on her neck and a scratch on the left side of her neck.
The victim said when she attempted to leave, Jackson produced a knife and told her to get back in the car. She said she feared for her life and follow Jackson’s commands.
A warrant was obtained for Jackson for battery of a dating partner. The investigating officer encountered Jackson on a traffic stop on March 27 and arrested her on the warrant.
In a statement to the officer, Jackson allegedly said she did pull a knife on the victim and told her to get into the car during the February incident.
Jackson was arrested on the warrant for battery of a dating partner, false imprisonment, aggravated assault, and a warrant for failure to appear in court for a probation hearing.
