The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest following a violent disturbance that occurred on April 4, 2026, in Sterlington.
Deputies responded to a reported altercation and physical attack between neighbors in Sterlington, within Union Parish, around 1PM. During the investigation, it was learned that the suspect allegedly struck the victim multiple times, causing significant injury.
The investigation identified the suspect as Sidney Lynn Cain, 21, of Sterlington. Witnesses stated the suspect repeatedly used racial slurs toward the victim during the attack. On this date deputies were unable to locate Cain, as he fled the scene prior to their arrival.
The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office later received a tip that Cain was in Beauregard Parish. UPSO reached out to the DeRidder Police Department, who located the suspect and took him into custody. Cain was extradited back to Union Parish and booked into the Union Parish Detention Center for Second Degree Battery and Hate Crime. His bond was set at $150,000 by a Third Judicial District Court judge.
