
Charles Russell “Rusty” Welch, age 60, of Choudrant, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at The Harris Place Farm in Bernice, Louisiana, on April 9, 2026.
Rusty was born on September 17, 1965, in West Monroe, Louisiana, to Charles and Doris Welch. He was a graduate of West Monroe High School. In his younger years, Rusty had a passion for baseball and dirt bike racing, traveling across Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas to compete. He found joy in riding his Harley-Davidson with his wife and was an avid hunter who cherished time outdoors.
For over 20 years, Rusty was the owner of Welch Welding and Fabrication. He took great pride in his work and built not only a successful business but also many lifelong friendships along the way.
On October 7, 1989, Rusty married the love of his life, Stephanie, at their home, surrounded by a strong community of family and friends. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared more than 36 wonderful years.
A man of deep faith, Rusty devoted much of his life to serving the Lord. He was actively involved in outreach programs, helping those in need and leading others to know Christ. His generous heart and willingness to serve left a lasting impact on many.
He is survived by his beloved wife Stephanie Welch; his daughter, Melissa Brooke Hill and her husband, Michael; and his cherished grandchildren, Stella and Noah. He is also survived by his sister, Wendy Rowton of West Monroe and her husband, Danny; nieces Janea Bender (David), Jessica Wilson (Mike), and Jordan Parker (Wyatt); nephews Hayden Bender and Cam Nugent; his mother-in-law, Judy Harris of Choudrant. And Robbie Boyd, who was like a son to Rusty.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 12, at 2:00 p.m. at Douglas Church in Ruston.
In memory of Rusty, the family invites all motorcyclists to gather at 156 Norris Road at “The Cook Shed” for one final motorcycle procession to the church prior to the service.
Following the service, family and friends are invited to join in fellowship at The Cook Shed.
