RPD nets prostitution arrests in city

From left to right: Cooper, Coleman and Thomas

Ruston Police arrested two men for soliciting for prostitution and a woman for prostitution last week.

Larry Marshal Cooper, 68, of Shreveport; Kelvin Wayne Coleman, 60, of Simsboro; and Angela Canada Thomas, 58, of Ruston; were charged after a RPD officer investigated suspicious activity near the intersection of West Vaughn Avenue and Jones Street early April 12.

According to a RPD report, at about 5:30 a.m., a patrol officer saw a stopped pickup truck with people outside the vehicle. Suspecting a fight might be occurring, the officer stopped and asked Thomas if everything was okay.

Thomas reportedly told the officer Cooper and Coleman had been smoking crack cocaine with her. Though Coleman supposedly said he was trying to have sexual relations with Thomas, he didn’t say he was going to pay for it.

Cooper allegedly said he tried to pay Thomas in crack cocaine to perform sexual acts with him and Coleman. Thomas allegedly told police she agreed to the deal.

Cooper, Coleman, and Thomas were booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. Bail was set at $1,000 each.
