Former Louisiana Tech assistant softball coach John Garris was tragically killed in a single-vehicle crash on Friday.
Garris, who spent the 2013 season on Mark Montgomery’s staff at Tech, was currently the head coach at Bay College in Michigan.
Specific details of the cause of the accident are unknown at this time.
Garris spent more than 30 years in the collegiate softball coaching realm, including stints as the head coach at Southern University, Shelton State Community College, Henderson State, Sam Houston State, and Delta State.
The Alabama native also spent time as an assistant coach at Maryland, Louisiana Tech, Samford, Southern, and Rutgers. He was the 2015 SWAC Coach of the Year while at Southern.
