Funeral services for Carolyn Ann Zachry, age 80 of Simsboro, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston, LA with Bro. Aleck Nyegaard officiating. Services are under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Carolyn Rodgers Zachry passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025. She was born June 5, 1945, in Oak Grove, LA to Essie Jones Rodgers and Herbert M. Rodgers. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law Marguerite Zachry Thomlinson and husband Robert Thomlinson; sister-in-law Judith “Judy” Zachry Covington and husband Paul H. Covington. She is survived by her husband, Richard Zachry; son David Griffin (Bridget); daughter Cindy Shivers (James); stepdaughter Kimberli Zachry (Laura); stepsons Rick Zachry (Theresa) and Jay Zachry; six grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
Carolyn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She grew up in Oak Grove, LA, where she attended Green Church of God. She graduated from Oak Grove High School (1963). Carolyn earned a degree from Louisiana Business College Monroe and held various bookkeeping positions before obtaining her Life, Health and Accident insurance licenses for Louisiana, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Carolyn was a member of Salem Methodist Church in Simsboro where she served as bookkeeper for many years. She retired after 26 years in the insurance and financial planning industry and enjoyed a life filled with family, bird watching, and the occasional trip to the Ozarks.
Visitation for Carolyn will be held from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston, LA
