In about 11 p.m. Jan. 8, officers went to the convenience store in response to a report two men were fighting and one had a firearm. Police were unable to locate the men.
A review of video surveillance footage showed one man, identified as Rhone, standing next to white SUV in the parking lot. Two men were observed walking toward him. Ryan was standing with his arm halfway in his jacket. The video showed Rhone pulling out a handgun and pointing it at the ground. The two men then walked away. Rhone was in seen leaving the scene.
Police went to Rhone’s residence in attempt to make contact, but we’re unable to locate him. The next day, Rhone went to the Ruston Police Department to give his statement on the incident. He said he did not have a gun, but had a lighter that looked like a gun. He said he felt threatened by the men walking toward him and he wanted them to think he had something.
Rhone was arrested on a warrant from the Town of Dubach for speeding and for aggravated assault with a firearm for the Jan. 7 incident and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
