Choudrant 3, Downsville 2 (Tuesday)

Addison Worley delivered a dominant performance in the circle, striking out 16 to lead Choudrant to a 3-2 win over Downsville on Tuesday.

Worley allowed five hits and two runs over seven innings while issuing no walks in a complete-game effort.

Choudrant took an early lead in the first inning. Lynlee Garrett reached on a fielder’s choice to drive in a run, and Brylea Diffey followed with a groundout that scored another to make it 2-0.

The Lady Aggies added what proved to be the decisive run in the second inning when Emery Boggs singled to push the lead to 3-0.

Downsville chipped away but could not overcome Worley’s dominance. The Lady Demons did not record a strikeout at the plate.

Boggs, Worley and Audrey Holbron each recorded a hit for Choudrant, while Garrett and Boggs drove in runs. Choudrant also showed patience at the plate, drawing seven walks, with Garrett and Madison McDaniel collecting two each.

Eden Miller led Downsville offensively, going 2-for-4 with an RBI. Chelsea Walsworth stole three bases as the Lady Demons totaled seven steals in the game. Downsville also played clean defense, committing no errors, with Brooke Mitchell leading the team with six fielding chances.

Choudrant travels to Lakeside for its next game Tuesday.

Glenbrook 7, Cedar Creek 6 (Tuesday)

Molly Boyd hit two home runs and drove in three runs, but Cedar Creek dropped a 7-6 decision to Glenbrook on Tuesday at Cedar Creek School after the Lady Apaches scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning.

Glenbrook struck first in the opening inning when Gabi Brown launched a solo home run to right field for a 1-0 lead. The Lady Apaches added another run in the third on Kynzie Smith’s single to center.

Cedar Creek answered in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 2. Hydi Boyd drove in a run with a groundout, and Ava Lantrip followed with an RBI single.

Glenbrook moved back in front in the fourth, scoring twice on a Gracie Heard groundout and a sacrifice fly by Hallie Sutton to make it 4-2.

Boyd responded in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run homer to left field, pulling the Lady Cougars even at 4-all.

Cedar Creek took its first lead in the sixth when Boyd led off with her second homer of the game, a solo shot to left. Lantrip later added an RBI single to extend the advantage to 6-4.

Glenbrook rallied in the top of the seventh, however, scoring three runs to reclaim the lead for good. Ellie Earnhardt and Heard each delivered RBI singles in the inning as the Lady Apaches went ahead 7-6.

Lantrip went the distance in the circle for Cedar Creek, allowing seven runs on 12 hits with three strikeouts and two walks over seven innings. Savannah Mangrum earned the win for Glenbrook after giving up six runs on 11 hits while striking out four and walking four.

Cedar Creek finished with 11 hits, led by Lantrip and Presley Wall with three apiece. Anna Claire Fitzgerald added two hits, while Boyd’s two home runs highlighted the offense.

Glenbrook collected 12 hits. Heard and Earnhardt each went 3 for 4, with Heard driving in three runs. Brown and Smith also had multiple hits.

Cedar Creek returns home Thursday to face Castor.

Pineville 8, Ruston 0 (Tuesday)

Ruston was unable to keep pace with Pineville in an 8-0 loss Tuesday at Pineville High School.

Pineville broke the game open in the second inning. Jackson delivered a two-run single to right field before A. Holmes followed with a two-run home run to left, giving the hosts a 4-0 lead.

Pineville added four more runs in the third inning to extend the advantage to 8-0. Moore drew a bases-loaded walk, Basco was hit by a pitch to force in another run, and an error brought home two more.

Mackenzie Roach took the loss for Ruston, allowing seven runs, six earned, on eight hits over 2 1/3 innings with three strikeouts and four walks.

Sage Tolar provided solid relief, tossing 3 2/3 scoreless innings while allowing two hits and striking out two without a walk.

Pineville was dominant in the circle, scattering five hits across seven shutout innings. Simpson struck out nine and walked one.

Jones led Ruston offensively, going 2 for 3 at the plate. The Bearcats also turned one double play.

Pineville finished with 10 hits. Byrnes, Daniels and Jackson each had two hits, while Ulrich, Holmes and Jackson drove in two runs apiece. Byrnes also stole two bases as Pineville turned two double plays and played error-free defense.

Ruston returns home Thursday to host Neville.

Quitman 16, Simsboro 5 (Tuesday)

Simsboro saw an early four-run lead slip away in a 16-5 loss to Quitman on Tuesday.

The Lady Tigers jumped out quickly in the first inning when Ciara Caldwell lined a two-run single to open the scoring. Simsboro added to its lead in the second as Callie Harrison doubled to center field, pushing the advantage to 4-0.

Quitman answered with a decisive third inning, scoring five runs on six hits to take a 5-4 lead. The key hit came from Pullig, who launched a three-run home run to left field.

The Lady Wolverines broke the game open in the fourth, plating seven runs on four hits to extend the lead to 12-4. Pullig added an RBI single, Ponder delivered a two-run single, Lamkin drove in another run with a single, and two Simsboro errors helped fuel the rally before Watson capped the inning with an RBI single.

Quitman finished with 16 hits in the game. Pullig led the offense with four RBIs while going 2 for 5. Ponder added three hits, and Leach, Guyotte, Lamkin and Watson each had multiple-hit performances.

Guyotte earned the win in relief, allowing one run on two hits over 2 1/3 innings with two strikeouts.

Kailee Hamilton was charged with the loss for Simsboro, allowing 11 runs, three earned, on eight hits over three innings. Kennady King started and allowed five runs on eight hits in three innings.

Simsboro collected 10 hits, led by Talashia Mangham, who went 3 for 3. Hamilton added two hits, while Brooklynn Boyd, Caldwell, Mangham and Harrison each drove in a run.

The Lady Tigers travel to Bastrop on Wednesday for their next game.
