Ruston native Alex Roebuck was one of just eight competitors at the Louisiana Amateur qualifying at Bayou Desiard last Saturday to earn a spot at the upcoming state amateur event.
The Cedar Creek School junior shot a 75 to finish third out of 24 competitors at the 18-hole event and will be competing in the 107th Louisiana Amateur June 4-7 at Metairie Country Club.
“I played pretty well in the qualifier at Bayou Desiard shooting 75,” said Roebuck. “The back nine was a little rough due to me not playing that nine holes in a couple of years. I am excited about the Louisiana Am as I have the opportunity to compete against other top junior golfers and college players in the state.”
Roebuck recently led the Cougars to the Select School Division IV state championship title. After capturing the individual state title as a sophomore, Roebuck finished as the runner-up this year while helping Cedar Creek run away with the team title by over 40 strokes over Sacred Heart.
Roebuck captured the title at the 2025 Allstate Sugar Bowl Fall Series at The Island as part of the Kelly Gibson Junior Golf Foundation last October, shooting a two round total of two-over-par 146 to run away with the 16-18 Boys Division played at The Island in Plaquemines, Louisiana.
