Senior catcher/designated hitter Matt Houston has been named to Conference USA’s 2026 Baseball All-Academic Team, per the league’s release Friday afternoon.

Houston is the first Bulldog since 2024 to be named to the All-Academic team, which is comprised of 11 CUSA student-athletes that are represented by nine different league member schools. With Houston’s selection, the ‘Dogs have 12 All-Academic selections since joining CUSA.

The Longview, Texas native holds a near-perfect 3.95 GPA in Professional Aviation, and plans to become a pilot once his Louisiana Tech career comes to an end. Staying true to his dedication in the classroom over the course of his collegiate career, Houston has been named to the AD Honor Roll, the Dean’s List and the President’s List on five separate occasions.

Houston has become one of Tech’s more consistent hitters despite his limited playing time. Through 31 games and 26 starts, he is batting .318 with nine homers, seven doubles, 21 RBI, 19 runs scored and a stellar OPS of 1.177. Prior to 2026, the Navarro College transfer had just one double, one homer and 11 RBI as a Diamond ‘Dog.
