Remembering Stanley Newton King

Stanley Newton King, age 85, of Unionville, Louisiana, entered eternity on May 13, 2026.

Stanley was born on January 20, 1941, in Ruston, Louisiana, to the delight of his father, Willard L. King, and mother, Julia Colvin King. He graduated from Ruston High School in 1959 and later attended Louisiana Tech University.

Stan proudly and faithfully served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, 2nd Marine Division, where he competed for two years with the Eastern Division Rifle Team.

Following his military service, he worked for Teledyne Exploration for 24 years, where he formed many lifelong friendships and cherished memories. Stan was a storyteller, and he could often be found reminiscing about his grand adventures and experiences in South Africa, Namibia, British Honduras, Argentina, Colombia, and Venezuela. With great enthusiasm and fond recollection, Stan was always happy to share about his many fishing trips floating along on the Orinoco River.

It was while working in Venezuela, that he met fell in love with his bride, Solange. After marrying, they built a life and family of joy, peace and faith. Their two daughters were truly the sparkle of Stan’s eye.

Stan had a deep love for reading and was a lifelong gun enthusiast who could often be found restoring and riding around in his beloved old Army Jeep. He was known for his patience, loyalty, hardworking-nature, unique ability to repair just about anything, and his deep appreciation for life’s simple joys. In his later years, he cherished coffee meet-ups at the golf house with his lifelong buddies.

He is survived by his wife, Solange King of Unionville; his daughter, Patricia King Brokish of Frisco, Texas and husband, Peter Brokish; his grandchildren, Aiden and Ian Brokish; and his sister, Madeline Cooper of Unionville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard L. King and Julia Colvin King; his daughter, Julia Katherine King; and his brother-in-law, William Herschel Cooper.

Funeral services for Stanley Newton King will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Owens Memorial Chapel with Brother Barry Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
