Man arrested after refusing to leave convenience store

A Ruston man was arrested June 17 after deputies responded to a report of a man refusing to leave a convenience store near Ruston, according to the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Employees of the USA Travel Plaza on La. Highway 33 reported asking Kevin Alexander Brown, 37, to leave approximately ten times. The manager told deputies Brown went behind the counter into the employee-only area after being told to leave.

Deputies found Brown appeared to be sleeping, was sweating, making loud moaning noises and flailing his body. Brown was placed in restraints and evaluated by Ruston Ambulance Service, but he denied medical treatment.

While speaking with Brown, deputies attempted to learn where he had been that night and who he was with, but Brown said he had no recollection and gave inconsistent statements.

Brown was transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center and booked for remaining on premises after being forbidden and disturbing the peace.
